CHKDS tool  - Have orphaned DS entries, does anyone still have the tool to clean it up?
Hi there, I'm prepping an old 5.5 exchange server for migration and are getting DS service issues. chkdsro.exe has identified orphaned objects, but the tool I need to fix it (chkds.exe) is nowhere to be found. Does anyone know of a source for this tool or a replacement tool that would do the same process?

If the orphaned objects are a problem becasue the parent is missing in the AD, add a new object and change the obj-dist-name (I think that's the property -- it's been, literally, a decade since I've done this!) to whatever is missing. Start the admin program i raw mode to make that change. E.g. the orphan has a distinguished name "/o=a/.../cn=recipients/cn=some-container/cn=object" If there's no longer an object with the distinguished name "/o=a/.../cn=recipients/cn=some-container", then create a new one and change the distinguished name. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Per my knowledge, Chkds is a Microsoft internal evolving utility that is updated frequently to fix issues on a case-by-case basis. You cannot run the wrong version of Chkds against a directory Please contact CSS [US, outside of US] for the toolJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi there, Just spent a fruitless twenty minutes with CSS. The tool is "no longer available" and they don't know how to get hold of it... Any further suggestions gratefully recieved.
